We know the types of judges nominated by President Biden – nominated a record percentage of women, people of color, public defenders, and others with professionally diverse backgrounds to the federal bench. We also know the types of judges nominated by President Trump during his first term – extremist judges that have radically changed the laws in our country and endangered the lives of millions.
The Senate has a few weeks remaining in the lame duck to confirm the federal judicial nominees that are awaiting a committee or floor vote. These are fair-minded, qualified nominees who will act as a backstop for our freedoms and our democracy. The Senate must do whatever it takes to get these nominees confirmed.
Any federal judicial vacancy that is left will surely be filled by Trump with judges who are loyal only to him. A vote against a Biden nominee now — or Leader Schumer failing to schedule a vote — is effectively a vote for a loyalist Trump judge next year. The time is now to prioritize confirming judges.
Abortion access is on the line. Union and workers rights are on the line. Gun violence protection laws are on the line. Voting rights are on the line. Environmental laws are on the line. Confirming these federal judicial nominees will help protect these rights. Now is not the time for excuses; now is the time for action.

Even if you’re expressing disagreement, be respectful. The person on the other end of the line could be an intern or an unpaid staffer, and it’s important to be kind even in our disagreement.
Be brief and concise. Your call will be recorded as a tally mark, not in detail. So no need to spend too long on the phone.
At the top of the call, mention that you are a constituent. Your call will be more impactful if the staffer knows you are from their state.
